Investment Management

A strategy that reflects your personal voyage.

There is no single investment portfolio that fits every investor or every stage of life. Investment management should reflect your goals, time horizon, liquidity needs, tax considerations, and overall risk tolerance.

At Captain Wealth Management, we build portfolios that are intentionally structured around your individual financial plan. Investment decisions are not made in isolation. They are integrated into your broader strategy to ensure alignment with your long-term objectives.

A Disciplined, Research-Driven Process:

We work closely with the Trek Investment Committee to access a broad range of strategic and tactical investment solutions. The committee conducts extensive due diligence when evaluating investment managers and strategies, screening for factors such as consistency, risk management, portfolio construction discipline, and style integrity.

We utilize advanced analytical tools to evaluate portfolio risk, stress test allocations, and maintain disciplined oversight.

Important Risk Information

Tactical allocation strategies, hedging techniques, structured notes, and other risk management approaches involve additional risks and may not be appropriate for all investors. No investment strategy can guarantee protection against losses or ensure participation in market gains.

Hedging strategies are designed to manage certain risks but may not fully mitigate downside exposure. Hedging may involve additional costs, may limit upside participation, and may not perform as intended depending on market conditions.

Structured notes are complex financial instruments that involve issuer credit risk, limited liquidity, and unique payoff structures. Returns may be capped, and investors may lose some or all of their principal. These instruments are subject to the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing institution.

Active and tactical allocation strategies involve the risk that investment decisions may not produce the desired outcome and may result in underperformance relative to broader market benchmarks or passive strategies. Market conditions may change rapidly, and there is no assurance that adjustments will achieve their intended objectives.

All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Investment strategies should be evaluated in the context of an investor’s overall objectives, risk tolerance, and financial circumstances.

Strategic Investment Portfolio

Our strategic portfolio series gives you choices when it comes to passive and active management.

Strategic management uses fundamental analytics to allocate the portfolio based upon Modern Portfolio Theory and macroeconomics. The combination influences slight allocation shifts to optimize the risk/return expectation of the portfolio. Quarterly re-balances are performed to keep the portfolio drifting away from the portfolio objectives.

Our strategic portfolios may include:

  • Model Portfolios
Professionally constructed asset allocation models designed to provide diversified exposure across equities, fixed income, and other asset classes. These models are built to align with defined risk parameters and are monitored continuously by the Trek Investment Committee.
Tactical Investment Portfolios

Tactical management portfolios are designed to help investors during major market downturns while also enabling them to participate when markets are trending higher.

These portfolios should be viewed as a risk management approach rather than a market timing approach and is not a market timing strategy that seeps to sell at all-time-highs and purchase at all-time-lows. Tactical strategies involve additional risks, including the possibility of underperformance during certain market environments. No strategy can guarantee protection during downturns or participation in all market gains.

  • Active Allocation Adjustments
The Trek Investment Committee continuously monitors market conditions, manager performance, and portfolio exposures to determine whether tactical shifts may be appropriate.

Advanced tools allow us to analyze portfolio risk in multiple dimensions, stress test allocations, and evaluate potential outcomes under various market scenarios before implementing changes.

Alternatives

Alternative Investments:
Where appropriate, alternative investments may be incorporated to complement traditional stock and bond allocations. These strategies are evaluated carefully through a rigorous due diligence process.

  • Structured Notes
Investment strategies with predefined terms that are designed to target specific market conditions, income objectives, or risk parameters.
Hedging Strategies

The Trek Hedging Overlay Strategy utilizes Out-of-the-Money (OTM) Puts, which are contracts that give the owner the right to sell the underlying asset at a specific price up until a specific date, to hedge equity portfolios against unexpected and significant and extreme market declines during periods of market stress. This strategy aims to address market uncertainty, reduce losses during
broad market sell-offs, and support long-term planning in a tax-efficient manner. This can be added to select equity models offered by Trek Financial.

Direct Indexing

Trek Direct Indexing is a modern investment approach that offers tax efficiency, flexibility, and control. Unlike traditional index funds or ETFs, which bundle a set of stocks into a single investment, direct indexing allows investors to own the individual stocks within an index directly. This means greater customization, enhanced tax strategies, and the ability to align investments with personal values or financial goals.
